The Importance of an RSVP

The Importance of an RSVP

While the craziness of our days might seem to be an excuse for skipping over an RSVP request, taking just a moment to respond is a sign of courtesy, good manners, and attention to detail…all things that are not unappreciated. Here are a few things to think about:

  • An RSVP helps the meeting organizers to plan for meals, number of handouts to print, favors to prepare, etc.
  • Most people take the time to RSVP to a wedding invitation…filling it out, placing it in the envelope, walking it to the mailbox…but don’t think twice about deleting the email asking for a meeting RSVP, which takes just seconds to hit reply and type a “yes” or “no.”
  • Don’t assume that if you don’t RSVP it should be understood that you will not be attending.
  • If you RSVP and then change your plans, let the meeting organizers know.
  • If you are bringing a guest, be sure to include that person in your RSVP.
  •  Be sure to RSVP by the date/time asked, but if you’ve missed the deadline…RSVP anyway.

“Courtesy is as much a mark of a gentleman as courage.
